Volunteer in the Library

If you have a few hours free per month, why not consider volunteering with us? No experience is necessary, and we'd love to meet you!

Just download the PDF form below, fill it in and post in the red FOGL box at the Library, or email it to fogl.volunteers@gmail.com

Linda, Volunteer

"It’s a welcoming place that offers much more than books to borrow. There are activities for all ages but I personally enjoy being on duty for the story times for young children. Even in the quiet times there is always something to do from shelving or packing books to move to other libraries, helping customers use the self service machines, tidying up after the children have ‘reorganised’, covering new books etc. If all else fails there are lots of lovely books that I may never have discovered if I did not have my regular 3 hour slot. Goring is so lucky to have such a brilliant library service and I feel privileged to be a small part of it."

Your community needs you.

Without the volunteers it would not be possible to keep the library open, nor would the library manager be able to run so many activities and events for both children and adults. If you are interested in joining the volunteers, please fill in this form and email it, or drop it into the library. You will then be invited in for a chat with our Volunteer Co-ordinator to see when and how you can help keep the library thriving in our community.

Goring Library is staffed by a library manager and assistant (FOGL funded post), employed by Oxfordshire County Council. They are ably supported by a team of committed and enthusiastic volunteers.

The Friends of Goring Library provide a link between the Council and the volunteers. A committee member is responsible for recruiting new volunteers and organising their rota.
